Agents Of Mercy was formed 2009 by The Flower Kings/Transatlantic/Kaipa guitarguru Roine Stolt and eccentric singer Nad Sylvan (Unifaun)
Their debut album “The Fading Ghosts Of Twilight” was released on independent label FOXTROT RECORDS in March 2009.
This 1st album features drummers Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, XTC, Mr Mister, Stickmen etc ) Zoltan Csörsz (TFK, Karmakanic) Jimmy Keegan ( Spocks Beard, Santana ) Jonas Reingold on bass and beautiful cover art by Silas Toball. The album that was partly a more of an acoustic affair and was greeted with both praise and some skepticism from people who thought Roine should stay with The Flower Kings and the full blown epic format.
The band was soon to team up with fellow proggers Karmakanic, for the tour package called “THE POWER OF TWO” – a duo who toured both Europe and USA in Oct 2009.
The result was a fabulous live record called “The Power Of Two” Live in USA, released on Reingold Records where guest Nick D’Virgilio (Spocks Beard, Tears For Fears ) shine with some fearless & intricate drumming and keyboard wizard Lalle Larsson made his entry with the band.
2010 shaped up as a busy year for guitarguru Roine Stolt who had a major Transatlantic tour coming up, culminating in triumphant headline gig at High Voltage in Victoria Park London in July, but before the tour Roine joined the rest of AOM tribe in cozy countryside Varispeed studios, south of Sweden and recorded the 12 new tracks for a next album – called “Dramarama”. The album recording saw the entry of young drummer Walle Wahlgren who is both a bit of a technical and visual exponent that is the motor of the band, the triton that drives the players to new heights on stage.
Released Oct 2010 “Dramarama” had more of symphonic rewards for the die-hard fans of TFK or Transatlantic style prog but has yet some scaled down happy-classic rock, glam & pop too”. A rollercoaster ride with echoes of young Bowie -early Genesis to the scary energy of Mahavishnu Orchestra.
The recording premiered the final line up that has now been together for 2 years.
The band consist of:
Nad Sylvan (Unifaun) – VOCAL & KEYBOARDS
Roine Stolt (Transatlantic, Flowerkings) – GUITARS & VOCAL
Jonas Reingold (Flowerkings, Karmakanic) – BASS
Lalle Larsson ( Weaveworld, Karmakanic) – KEYBOARD & VOCAL
Walle Wahlgren – DRUMS
Early 2011 saw main writers Roine Stolt and Nad Sylvan crawl back to their writing lodges penning a myriad of possible entries for next album that was their most ambitious album affair to date. In true prog-rock fashion it was time for a concept album and time to expand roots and branches to become a full-fledged Symphonic/Prog (progmetal) working unit.
The chemistry between all members have resulted in a very tight and yet pure vintage and alive recording and to go all the way AoM booked the Fenix studio in Sweden to record “old school” in a top modern but analogue reel to reel facility. The result is “The Black Forest” – an album that has finally eliminated all doubt that this is a main actor in modern progressive rock. Reviews of this album have been stunning, glowing from frame to frame with superlatives about both the album material, production and the players involved. It surely displays a slightly harder edge than previous albums and hits possibly heavier and more dexterous than The Flower Kings that is now Roines “other band”. With all the accolades for “The Black Forest” – the band ” Agents Of Mercy” is still to be experienced live.
